Artifacts: Season 3 Trailer

Enjoying the show? Support it here.

Season 3 of Artifacts is going back to the things that started it all.

This season, I'm looking at the technology, games, objects and pieces of internet culture we remember - from the Zune and MiniDisc to LaserDisc, the Game Boy Camera and Choose Your Own Adventure books.

Each episode starts with an artifact, explores its history and then follows the story underneath it: the memories, experiences and feelings that made these things matter in the first place.

Because Artifacts isn't about whether things were better back then. It's about why some of those things can still take us straight back to another time in our lives.

Find the artifact first. Then find the feeling inside it.

Season 3 is coming soon.

Remember the things you couldn't imagine living without? The music player you carried everywhere.

The little piece of plastic that held your game saves. The software box you

The camera that took terrible photographs but somehow made you want to take hundreds of them.

Speaker:

Some of those things disappeared because something better came along.

Speaker:

Some were simply unlucky. And some were actually pretty great but somehow never

got the chance to become the future.

That's where we're going in Season 3 of Artifacts. I'll be looking at the Zune,

that might have disappeared from our everyday lives, but never quite disappeared from our memories.

Speaker:

Because Artifacts isn't really about whether the technology was good or bad,

Speaker:

or whether things were better back then.

Speaker:

It's about the things themselves, the stories around them, and the feelings we left inside them.

Speaker:

Why did we care about them? What did they change? What did they become part of?

Speaker:

And why can something we haven't touched in 20 years still take us straight

Speaker:

back to another time in our lives?

About the Podcast

Artifacts: Stories from the Emotional History of the Internet
A storytelling podcast about the things we left behind, and the feelings they left with us
Artifacts is a storytelling podcast about the technology, media, and digital culture we've left behind, and the feelings that remain.

Each episode begins with a familiar artifact - a burned CD, a dial-up modem, a movie rental store, a family computer, a paper map - and unfolds into a story about memory, identity, creativity, belonging, curiosity, and the experiences we still carry with us today.

This isn't just a show about old technology. It's about the people who grew up alongside it.

Hosted by award-winning podcaster Danny Brown, Artifacts blends personal storytelling, cultural history, and thoughtful reflection to explore why some of the most ordinary objects became the milestones of our lives.

Because sometimes the objects fade, but the feeling doesn't.

Danny Brown

Danny Brown is the host of Artifacts, a storytelling podcast exploring dead tech, lost media, gaming culture, and the emotional history of the internet. He's a Gen X nerd who grew up when dial-up tones were a magical sound of the future, Limewire was in its infancy, and AIM was the original Twitter.

He lives in beautiful Muskoka, Ontario, Canada with his wife, two kids, and various fur babies. He spends winters in front of a cozy fire and summers by the lake. Well, when he finds time away from nerd culture, of course...
